0603-44BERLIN — The Business Enterprise Development Council (BEDCO) has hired William J. Andreas Jr. as executive director for the community development and financial institution that serves the state’s three northern counties.

Andreas brings extensive economic development and financial services experience to the organization, most recently as economic development administrator for the City of Rochester. He also has close to 20 years experience in commercial banking, including in senior management and as branch manager.

With BEDCO, Andreas’ responsibilities will focus primarily on commercial lending, business and economic development, and grant writing. He will be involved in organizing multiple projects independently under the direction of the organization’s 14-member board of directors chaired by President Barry Normandeau. Andreas will also work closely with other local, state and federal agencies involved in commercial lending, business startup and economic development.

Andreas is a strong believer in participating actively in professional and community organizations. He has been a member of the International Economic Development Association, Northeast Economic Development Association, and the New Hampshire Economic Development Association. Andreas has participated in the American Planners Association as an affiliate member, and in the N.H. Commercial Industrial Board of Realtors. He has also been an active member of Rotary Clubs, Chambers of Commerce, an affordable housing coalition, and his church.
